The Belgian waffles are so spectacular here that on Saturday mornings people can be seen lined up along the street, patiently waiting for a table. The waffles must be spectacular in order to compete with the other outstanding breakfast dishes, which draws diners from all over Toronto. A true Belgian chef brings a European twist to all of the meals at Le Petit Dejeuner, which is fast gaining a reputation for their signature dinners as well. These include fish and chips made with tilapia and real frites; savoury crepes with various fillings; and an excellent Flemish beef stew. The famous weekend brunch includes Eggs Benny, Benjamin, Florentine, and Veronique. Their Croque Monsieur is so authentic that you will think you are in a cafe in Paris. Crepes, omelettes, bacon and eggs, and authentic apple pancakes round out the fare in the event that your are not there for the mouth watering waffles. Located in one of the oldest parts of Toronto, le petit djeuner is a short walk to hip furniture stores and the St. Lawrence Market, and is perfectly located for a great dinner after a full day of shopping. Located right on the King Street Design Strip, the restaurant has become an integral part of this very old neighbourhood - with a Belgian twist. You can bring your own wine to dinner (corkage fee applies) and if its a Thursday or Friday there is often a live band there to keep you entertained. Chef Maes often runs cooking classes at certain times of the year and it is well worth signing up for the course, which you get to eat. Catering is also available for anywhere in Toronto, and custom menus can be created for your specific needs. NOTE: On Saturdays they are open for lunch and dinner but are closed from 3pm to 6pm.
