The King Edward is one of the grand historic hotels of Toronto, containing the latest in business amenities and the best in luxury appointments. Built in 1903, the hotel has retained its rich post Victorian heritage, and its famous Sovereign Ballroom has been designated as a historic room. The Sovereign contains huge windows, 24 foot ceilings, and extensive Edwardian molding. It is one of three ballrooms that can each host the grandest of weddings and conventions. There are fourteen conference rooms for meetings from 10 to 500 people. An onsite business centre contains the latest technologies including rentable laptops, audio visual equipment, fax and copy service, and high speed wireless internet. After work, enjoy the 24 hour fitness centre that is open 7 days a week. Relax in the full service spa, or shop at the stores inside the hotel. Fine dining is available in The Restaurant, which still serves traditional English afternoon tea and hosts a stunning Sunday brunch. The Consort Bar serves lighter fare in an intimate setting. The bar faces a busy street that provides for endless people watching. All 296 rooms have individual heat and air conditioning, high speed internet, voicemail, cable movies and 24 hour room service. Standard rooms are ideal for business travellers and contain many amenities such as phones in both the bedroom and bathroom. Deluxe rooms have English Edwardian furniture and are up to 350 square feet. Royal Club rooms are premium service and include mahogany furnishings and crown molding throughout. Suites provide for the most luxurious accomodation. They have separate living rooms and king size beds. Suites are either 550 or 750 square feet; Royal Suites are 1800 square feet and can contain many extra features such as dining tables, second bathrooms, and skylights.
