One of the most famous restaurants in Toronto, the Sultan's Tent is a feast for the senses, re-creating the atmosphere of a Morrocan banquet complete with belly dancers, exceptional food, and a large dining tent. All tables are set inside candle-lit alcoves of a spacious traditional tent that has the ambience of a shiekh's royal caravan. Each table has a view of the main hall, where belly dancers perform their nightly rituals in a mesmerizing show. Each alcove is separated from the others using translucent curtains, which allows for privacy during meals. Foods range from traditional to exotic, and while the menu is certainly Morroccan there is something there for everyone as main courses are based on chicken, beef, fish, or lamb, and there is also vegetarian. Four course prix fixe dinners are served at fixed seating times to co-incide with the dance shows, to ensure that everyone is seated by the time the show begins. All desserts include Morroccan mint tea, which is served in a traditional silver tea pourer. At the front of the restaurant is the Cafe Maroc and Bar. Looking like a scene from Casablanca, the cafe, while it has no dancers, does have a well stocked bar, intimate cafe tables, and an extensive a la carte menu for both lunch and dinner. Large windows at the front of the cafe allow in lots of light for the lunchtime crowd and affords an excellent view of the busy historic area outside.
